CBN to destroy naira notes worth N6tn

There are hundreds of thousands of searches on how to make money from blogging, as more and more people desire to make big bucks using their writing skills.

This does not mean that without a writing skill you cannot start a blog, although, you might need to go a different route – deeper knowledge of writing for a better reading experience for your readers.

Well, in this article, we will be outlining the ways you, whether a greenhorn or an experienced blogger, can make money from blogging. The points will be direct to the point and practical, without making ridiculous promises.

One thing you should note, however, is that when it comes to making money off blogging, you would need one almost rare but important quality: patience. With blogging, moneymaking comes with factors such as consistency and perseverance – hard to hear but necessary to acknowledge.

Now, let’s take a dive into the subject – how to make money from blogging.

Ad Services

You may or may not have heard of Google AdSense. This is an advertising service offered by search engine giant, Google. However, that isn’t the only one, as we also have Media.net, PropellerAds, Amazon Native Shopping Ads, among others.

Using ad services is one of the somewhat simplest ways to start making money off blogging, with many bloggers using these services for monetisation.

These ad services display ads on your website, targeted at your audiences. Based on your niche, these services deploy ads to your website that speaks directly to visitors of your website.

Every ad network provides you with a set of guidelines that shows you the requirements your website needs to fulfill to qualify for monetisation.

Selling of e-books

In the age of self-publishing, the sale of e-books has continued to grow among the circle of writers with knowledge of a specific theme or subject.

Do you have an idea you would love to discuss elaborately? One that you are sure would spur enthusiastic readers to place orders for your e-books on platforms where these books can be sold?

Then think no further. All that is required is that you select a topic, one which you have a solid knowledge of (or you could do your own research for consolidation) and make a compilation of this knowledge and sell on platforms such as Amazon.

The good thing is that you have the free rein to determine the price of your e-book, but ensure that it is set at a price that doesn’t discourage potential readers.

Affiliate Marketing

This has grown popular over the years and has continued to bubble under the surface, especially among blog owners.

What is affiliate marketing? This is where a company pays you to generate traffic or leads to specific products or a wide range of products and services. So, for every sale the company makes from clicks on your website, you get a share known as an affiliate commission.

Affiliate marketing remains one of the top ways bloggers make money. In Nigeria, brands such as Jumia, Konga, Bet9ja, Travelstart, among others, have affiliate programs that you can take advantage of.

Sell Courses on Your Blog

Do you have knowledge on any topic? One that is sure to draw the attention of a select audience? Well, why not make a 1-2-hour video of it?

In this video, you could be teaching a language or some other skill; it could even be mathematics or a course in the university. Anything you know that would be relevant to your audience for knowledge expansion. There are platforms that you can use to create such, including the very powerful WordPress and Teachable.

Direct Ads

This is different from ads generated by ad services like Google AdSense in the sense that you are the one who gets these adverts (or interested parties reach out to you through your “advertise with us” page) and inserts them on pages on your website.

There is no middleman here, and all the profit comes to you.

This list is not an exhaustive one, as there are other ways to make money from blogging but you should note that as a blogger, what is required of you is consistency and a constant reinvention of yourself.

To conclude, it is important to inform you that you would need to do a further deep dive into each of the listed medium of making money through blogging.
