Fully Funded scholarships in Germany

Studying in Germany is one of the best decisions you can make in 2022 as there are many scholarships you can choose from. Germany has one of the affordable tertiary institutions in Europe and has an impeccable international reputation. Germany offers you an outstanding education that will pave the way to your future career.

Compared to other European countries, the cost of living in Germany is quite reasonable. The prices for food, accommodation, clothing, cultural events, are basically in line with the EU average. You will need around 850 euros per month to cover your living expenses.

The tuition at German universities is very low, and some universities charge no tuition fee at all. This is because most German universities are funded by the government. Normally students in bachelor’s programmes don’t have to pay tuition fees. Low tuition fees are charged, however, for master’s degree programmes. Germany offers English-taught programs, particularly at the postgraduate level.

Here are some of the scholarships being offered to international students who are studying in Germany.

  1. Heinrich Boll Foundation scholarship – Undergraduates, graduates and post-graduate students

The Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships to approximately 1400 undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral students of all subjects and nationalities per year, who are pursuing their degree at universities, Universities of Applied Sciences or Universities of Arts.

The Foundation expects scholarship recipients to have excellent academic records, to be socially and politically engaged, and to have an active interest in the basic values of the foundation: ecology and sustainability, democracy and human rights, self determination and justice.

2. University of Berlin – No IELTS, €300 monthly, Tuition- free

The Deutschlandstipendium scholarship allows students at Freie Universität Berlin of all nations and all parts of society to fully concentrate on their studies. The program supports talented students with 300 euros per month. Half of this sum is provided by the Federal Government while the other half is donated by a private sponsor.

Scholarships are always awarded for the winter semester. It is not possible to start the scholarship program in the summer semester. Applications must be submitted electronically using the online application system.

3. Erasmus Mundus Scholarships

An Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) is a prestigious, integrated, international study programme, jointly delivered by an international consortium of higher education institutions. Students at the Master’s level from all over the world can apply.

Most consortia require applications to be submitted between October and January for courses starting the following academic year.

4. SBW Berlin Scholarship – Tuition, Accommodation and allowance

As part of the organisation’s cooperation with other non-profit organizations, it awards scholarships to young committed international talents to pursue a university degree or apprenticeship in Berlin.

One of the most crucial requirements of the SBW Berlin scholarship is the scholarship recipient’s intention to return to his/her home country to work there for at least 18 months after the completion of the study program. The scholarship is reserved for students from Eastern Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa.

5. International University of Applied Sciences

IU supports students from all over the world with competitive scholarships based on where they are and their individual needs and circumstances. Applicants are expected to before 26th January 2022 and benefit from a scholarship of up to 80%.

6. DAAD funding for foreign students, graduates and postdocs

The grant program is open to excellently-qualified young academics and scientists who have completed a Master’s degree or Diploma, or in exceptional cases a Bachelor’s degree at the latest by the time they begin their grant-supported research.

As a rule, applicants should not have graduated any longer than six years before the application deadline. Your application cannot be considered if you have been resident in Germany for longer than 15 months at the application deadline.

7. Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Cofund

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions are the European Union’s reference programme for doctoral education and postdoctoral training. They contribute to excellent research, boosting jobs, growth and investment by equipping researchers with new knowledge and skills. They foster research cooperation across borders, sectors and disciplines.

MSCA Cofund supports new or existing doctoral programmes and postdoctoral fellowship schemes. Proposed programmes can cover any research disciplines but exceptionally, can also focus on specific disciplines.
