Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity is looking for leaders who have the courage and compassion to confront life-limiting disparities in health.
The Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity program is designed to bring together the many diverse industries and professions that influence health and well-being including, but not limited to: art, law, business, academia, government, journalism, social enterprise, research, media, housing, and health care delivery.
Fellows will be selected based on demonstrated commitment in the area of health equity and leadership potential. The program will build and support a group of global, multidisciplinary leaders equipped with the technical knowledge, skills and network to advance health equity in their organizations and communities.
This is a one-year fellowship. There are in-person meetings, called convenings, throughout the year that represent a total anticipated time commitment of five weeks. Convenings are full-time, out-of-office commitments that take place in different parts of the world. In between convenings, there is an online curriculum taught by the AFHE program faculty.
This online training takes place every two weeks for 90 minutes. There is an additional time commitment for self-directed learning of 12-16 hours per month. Self-directed learning activities include the completion of program readings, videos and assignments. Assignments may be related to your individual project, reflection and/or program evaluation. Attendance and participation in both in-person and online coursework is required for the successful completion of the program.
- This fellowship is open to people who:
- Want to become global leaders in the elimination of health disparities
- Are early to mid-career
- Are currently engaged in health-related work
- Are currently in leadership or a position that has potential for leadership
- Value diverse perspectives
- Enjoy working in groups
Fellows are chosen for the next step of the application process by the strength of their statement of interest, including past accomplishments that demonstrate a strong commitment to health equity, the quality of their project proposal, the strength of their recommendation letters and the completion of the employer support form.
Note: All educational experiences and travel expenses related to participation in this fellowship including in-person convenings are paid for by Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity.
